Two men charged with manslaughter after Exeter death

Two men have been charged with manslaughter after a man died in Exeter.

Joseph Wake, 27, from Exeter, sustained serious head injuries in Exwick Road on Saturday. He was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth for treatment but later died.

Craig Melhuish, 38, and Colin Smith, 34, both from the city, were charged following the incident.

The pair were remanded in custody after appearing before magistrates in Exeter.

Mr Melhuish, of Pinces Square, and Mr Smith, of no fixed address, are due to appear at the city's crown court on 2 June.

A 34-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man, both from Exeter, were also arrested in connection with the death but were later released on police bail until 4 August while investigations continue.
