Polish man denies Devonport submarine documents theft

A Polish man has denied stealing documents relating to navy submarines and warships.

Polish national Marcin Kostwena, 31, denied the the theft from a neighbour who works at Devonport naval base in Plymouth, Devon.

Plymouth Crown Court heard the alleged incident came to light when the Polish embassy was asked for a "substantial sum of money" for the documents.

Mr Kostwena, of Ker Street, Devonport was remanded in custody.

Prosecutor Chris Bittlestone said the documents referred to the "design and operation of certain classes of submarines of Her Majesty's fleet".
