Teignmouth house surrounded by police amid sword fear

Armed police have surrounded a house in Devon following concerns about a man who is believed to have a samurai sword and and a hammer.

A cordon was set up around the property in Fourth Avenue in Teignmouth after police were alerted at about 13:45 BST.

A police helicopter, ambulance crews and the fire service are at the scene.

Negotiators are speaking with a 51-year-old man and gas and electricity supplies to the property have been cut off.

Devon and Cornwall Police said no members of the public were in danger.
