Police have released CCTV footage of a man attacking a shop worker, before robbing her premises.

The footage shows the woman opening Banwell Antiques in Honiton, Devon, at 09:00 GMT on 22 March.

She walks through the doorway and goes to put the shop keys in her handbag before a man lunges at her from behind.

Police said the "distressing" footage had been released in an "urgent" bid to find the robber and have appealed for people to share it using social media.

The attacker is seen grabbing his victim round the neck and hauling her around.

Victim 'shaken'

He then ties the woman's hands behind her back and pushes her to the rear of the premises, out of the view of the front window.

Items stolen included a number of gold bangles, bracelets, necklaces and rings, including 200-300 rings set with diamonds and semi-precious stones.

Det Insp Charlie Craig, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said: "Although we have followed up a number of lines of inquiry, we still do not know who this man is.

"He may not live in Devon and Cornwall so we are urging people to share this footage with friends across the country, using social media, so we can find out who he is."

The woman was not physically injured in the ordeal but has been left "very shaken" and is being supported by police and her family.

The man is described as white, of slim build, unshaven with short dark hair and aged between 30 and 50 years old.

He was wearing a blue coat, blue denim jeans, black trainers and a beige coloured flat cap and carrying a blue rucksack and black holdall bag.

The value of the items stolen has not yet been ascertained.
