Tesco lorry shunts car into bungalow in Devon

Damaged car and property No-one was in the parked vehicles and the three people in the property were not injured

A bungalow was severely damaged when a lorry hit five vehicles, sending one crashing into the property in the early hours.

The lorry ploughed through a garden and power lines were also brought down at Old Newton Road, Heathfield, Devon, at about 03:25 GMT.

No-one was in the parked vehicles and the three people in the property were not injured.

The driver of the lorry was treated by paramedics at the scene.

'Shocked and stunned'

The Tesco lorry shunted a vehicle into the dining room at the front of the building.

Sgt Glenn Bullock said: "The three occupants were asleep in a different area of the building. They were obviously shocked and stunned.

"There has been a considerable amount of structural damage to the property."

A Tesco spokesperson said: "We are relieved that no-one was hurt during the incident. We will be assisting the police with their inquiries."

The road was closed by Devon and Cornwall Police.

Officers said it was not yet known what caused the crash.
