Torquay house fire man dies

A man who was rescued from a house fire in Torquay has died in hospital, police have said.

Emergency services were called to the house in Dunmere Road at about 06:20 GMT on Sunday.

The man, who was taken to Torbay Hospital, has not been identified and the cause of the fire is unclear.

Neighbouring homes were evacuated as a precaution in case strong winds caused flames to spread. Dunmere Road is still closed to traffic.
