A man who swapped hundreds of extreme child abuse images on the internet has been jailed.

Colin Lee, 36, had 75,000 images and 4,200 movies on his three computers.

Lee, of Culme Way in Dunkeswell, Devon, admitted ten offences of distributing indecent images of children and 23 of making or possessing images.

An Exeter Crown Court judge said Lee's offences were "so serious that only immediate custody is justified". He was jailed for two years.

The court heard he distributed 775 images and 30 movies via email and a file-sharing website.

Gordon Richings, prosecuting, said police were tipped off after an investigation by the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children and his home was raided.

Nick Bradley, defending, said Lee was not distributing material for gain but was encouraged to do so by fellow users of the file sharing website who allowed him greater access to their images as a result.
