Jonathan Grant in court over Barnstaple attempted rape

A man has appeared in court charged with detaining a child under the age of 16 and attempting to rape her.

Jonathan Grant, of no fixed abode, but formerly of St David's Hill, Exeter, Devon, is accused of detaining the girl in Barnstaple on 26 December.

The charge of attempted rape is alleged to have taken place between 25 and 28 December, also in Barnstaple.

Mr Grant, 32, was remanded in custody by magistrates and is due to appear at Exeter Crown Court on 23 January.
