Hundreds of homes approved for Plymouth

Plans to build almost 900 homes in Plymouth have been approved by councillors.

The project in the Derriford and Seaton area of the city will also include almost 200 affordable homes, a new link road and bridge across the Forder Valley.

Work on the £160m scheme, which will also include retail and business space, is expected to start in 2014.

The Hawkins Family Trust, operating as KDR Ltd, is behind the 10 year scheme.

Plymouth City Council leader Tudor Evans said it was a "brilliant decision for the city".

"It is a major investment in housing, infrastructure and will create many more jobs, which is great for growth and the 21st Century Plymouth."
