Multi-vehicle fire near Chawleigh investigated

An investigation is under way into the cause of a fire involving four cars, two caravans and a large number of gas cylinders in Devon.

Crews from Barnstaple, Chulmleigh, Witheridge and North Tawton were called to a field by the B3042 near Chawleigh shortly after midnight.

Station Manager Mark Saunders said there "were a number of explosions".

A spokesperson from the Devon and Somerset fire service said they were treating the blaze as "suspicious".
