Wiltshire man killed in Ivybridge 'bad weather' crash

A man has died after the car he was in left the road and went through a hedge and fence into a waterlogged field during bad weather.

Police said the man, 76, from Wiltshire, died after the Volvo left the A38 at Westlake near Ivybridge.

The crash happened at about 17:45 GMT on Friday during heavy rain and high winds in Devon.

The driver, a woman in her 60s, was treated for minor injuries. Anyone with information should contact the police.

During the bad weather in the county Jubilee Bridge in Modbury collapsed and fire crews rescued people from flooded cars in Plymstock, Sidmouth, Teigngrace and Wembury

In Cornwall, Susan Norman, a 68-year-old from Looe, died after the property she was in collapsed during a landslip in torrential rain.
