Pair arrested over man's murder in Plymouth

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man's body was found inside a property in Plymouth.

The man, who was believed to be in his early thirties, has not yet been formally identified.

He was found in a property in Molesworth Road, in the Stoke area of the city, at about 01:00 GMT.

Devon and Cornwall Police said a 50-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman had been arrested.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Bean, who is leading the investigation, said: "I want to reassure the local community that the two suspects and victim were all known to each other."

He said investigators were following a number of lines of inquiry, adding that the case had been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) because of an earlier incident which he could not give details of.

A post-mortem examination is being carried out to identify the cause of the man's death.
