A man has been charged with the murder of an elderly man who was found dead in his Plymouth flat.

The body of Michael Brincat, 76, known locally as Maltese Mike, was found at his flat in Malborough House, Devonport on 6 February.

Police said Brian Anthony Short, 52, from the Devonport area of the city was arrested on Friday and remains in police custody.

He is expected to appear at Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Monday.
