A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a disabled pensioner was found dead in his Plymouth flat.

The body of Michael Brincat, 76, known locally as Maltese Mike, was found at his flat in Malborough House, Devonport on 6 February.

It is believed that he died from asphyxiation.

Police said a 52-year-old man from the Devonport area was arrested at about 07:00 GMT on Friday and is in police custody awaiting questioning.

Det Supt Paul Burgan said: "I want to be clear that there are still a number of lines of enquiry to be completed and this investigation is very much ongoing."

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
