Ernest Jones hammer robbery in Exeter injures employee

A person has been injured during an armed robbery at a jewellery shop in Exeter.

Three men smashed in the door of Ernest Jones and threatened staff with a hammer at about 09:00 GMT, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

A number of expensive Rolex watches were stolen from the shop on Exeter's High Street.

Police added that a member of staff was injured by glass during the robbery but his condition was unknown.

After the robbery, the thieves got into a black Jaguar car and fled.

The car was later found abandoned in a supermarket car park in Alphington.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
