Whale remains found at Putsborough beach

Remains of a dead whale have been washed up on a beach in north Devon.

The mammal, measuring between 15-20m long, came ashore at Putsborough on Saturday.

Coastguards were alerted by a person who found a backbone, part of a rib and a tailbone.

It is expected to be removed by the local authority rather than it being assessed by naturalists because of the extent of its decomposition, said coastguards.
