Sydenham House fire tackled by Devon and Cornwall crews
Nearly 100 firefighters have been tackling a fire at a Grade I-listed building in Devon.
Firefighters from Devon and Cornwall were called to Sydenham House, near Launceston at about 16:00 GMT.
Paul Slaven from the Devon and Somerset crews said: "The whole of the roof is now involved in the fire and half of the first floor."
He added firefighters had been withdrawn from part of the building which it was feared might collapse.
Mr Slaven, from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, said: "It's a historic building, possibly Elizabethan, so it is of some significance in the area.
"Some of our crews have withdrawn from part of the building due to the possibility of collapse, but they're doing all they can to protect another part of the building and are carrying out salvage work as well."
He said water from the lake was being used on the fire.
There were no reports of anyone being in the building, Mr Slaven added.
