Devon County Council plans to sell buildings
Devon County Council wants to reduce the amount of space it needs for staff and is proposing selling a number of properties to do so over the next five years.
The council employs about 6,000 staff operating out of about 310 buildings around the county - not including schools and their staff.
It wants to reduce the amount of floorspace it needs by 35%.
Councillors are due to discuss the proposals on Wednesday.
No employees would lose their jobs, but they would have to share desks, as well as work from non-council properties and from home, the authority said.
The number of buildings to be sold was still to be determined, it added.
The council said: "Some buildings will be surplus to requirements and we will look to dispose of these to provide revenue savings."
