Plympton siege man Gary Chapman sentenced

A man arrested with an air rifle after an armed siege in Devon has been given a 12 month community order.

Gary Chapman, 49, from St Maurice Road, Plympton, admitted possessing an air rifle with intent to cause fear of violence on 25 September.

Armed police and negotiators were called to his home.

Chapman, who appeared at Plymouth Crown Court, was also given a six month supervision order. The weapon involved will be destroyed.
