'First' NHS acid reflux operation

A man from Devon is believed to be the first patient to undergo an operation on the NHS to prevent severe acid reflux.

Lucas Jones, 21, from Sidbury, had gastro oesophageal reflux disease which caused bile and stomach acid to leak into his oesophagus.

The operation involved placing magnetic titanium beads around the oesophagus preventing the stomach acid leaking and causing him chest pain and nausea.
