Diver rescued from Fairy Cove, Paignton, dies

A diver has died after he surfaced unconscious off the south Devon coast.

Emergency services were called to Fairy Cove, near Paignton Harbour, at 11:30 BST on Sunday.

The man, who was in his 50s, was carried ashore by other divers, Brixham Coastguard said. He was taken to Torbay Hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead.

Devon and Cornwall Police is investigating his death but it is not thought to be suspicious.
