A man charged with the murder of his mother in Devon has appeared in court.

Andrew Cane, 30, was arrested after the body of Linda Sheard, 63, was found at her home in Port Mer Close, Brixington, Exmouth, last week, Exeter magistrates heard.

Mr Cane, of Port Mer Close, is due to appear at Exeter Crown Court on 31 July. He was remanded in custody.

Mr Cane was arrested in Gloucester on Saturday after his mother's car was found near Bristol.
