River Tamar capsized kayak pair rescued

A man and woman have been rescued from the River Tamar in Plymouth after the kayak they were in overturned.

The marine police found the man clinging to a buoy and the woman wading in the water shortly after 05:00 BST.

Both were in their late 20s and from the Saltash area. The kayak was found abandoned further down the river.

Coastguards said the man was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital after suffering from the effects of the cold.
