Emergency crews have been called to a fire at a former restaurant in south Devon.

Firefighters were called to the property in Torbay Road, Paignton - described as unused by Devon and Somerset Fire Service - at about 16:30 BST.

The ground floor of the building was well alight when they arrived.

A number of people were evacuated from flats above the restaurant, and there were no reports of any injuries.

Three appliances - two from Torquay and one from Paignton - and an aerial ladder were dispatched to the scene, the fire service said.
