Exeter is hosting one of the biggest gay pride celebrations in the South West.

A 50m long rainbow flag was part of the Exeter Pride parade down the High Street to Exeter Phoenix.

Hundreds of marchers including firefighters and police took part in the parade led by a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service appliance.

Roads were closed along the route of the parade on Saturday morning which kicked off a weekend of events.

Alan Quick, chairman of Exeter Pride committee, said: "Exeter Pride is a celebration of our lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities.

"It is about us having pride in our contributions to a vibrant and diverse city, and the city having pride in us."
