A 20-year-old man who was jailed for 10 years for sexually assaulting girls in south Devon has been allowed to appeal against his sentence.

Jake Ormerod, 20, of Babbacombe Road, Torquay, Devon, admitted 13 charges relating to eight girls. He was jailed at Exeter Crown Court in July.

His lawyer, Paul Dentith, said the appeal should be heard within months.

Ormerod was arrested during a large-scale inquiry into child sexual exploitation in south Devon.

During the investigation, police said he was part of a gang who used the social networking site Facebook to target victims.

Ormerod was arrested in February 2011 as part of the police investigation, Operation Mansfield.
