Hayle rock collapse filmed by geologist

Help

A geologist working for Cornwall Council has captured the moment when about 200,000 tonnes of rock fell into the sea near Hayle.

The collapse was recorded by geologist Richard Hocking - a soils and materials engineer for Cornwall Council.

The cliff fall happened at North Cliffs just days after part of the coastal footpath was diverted.
