What is BBC Radio Devon?

BBC Radio Devon is one of the BBC's biggest local radio stations, broadcasting a mix of local news, information, conversation, music and entertainment, reflecting life in the county.

What is the remit of BBC Radio Devon?

The station offers a range of news and information about Devon along with national and international news, music and entertainment.

BBC Radio Devon is proud to be the official commentary station of local sport with football commentaries on Torquay, Exeter and Plymouth Argyle games, plus live coverage of Exeter Chiefs Rugby and reports of other sporting activities.

We love life in the county and we're proud of our loyal family of listeners, and we love to hear from you if you're on holiday or passing through.

Although most listeners are over 50, the station aims to appeal to anyone who is interested in Devon.

History of BBC Radio Devon

BBC Radio Devon has been serving the county since 1983, from studios in Exeter, Torbay, Barnstaple and Plymouth, where we share a home with BBC Spotlight, Inside Out South West, The Politics Show and our website www.bbc.co.uk/devon. The style and sound of the station has changed over the years, but news and entertainment remains at the heart of all we do.

We can't always reply personally but we will be in touch if we want to take your idea or story further.

For copyright reasons, we do not provide copies of our programmes. Even if we could, the number of requests we get would mean that is all we would ever do! You can listen again to shows on BBC iPlayer Radio for one month after they're broadcast.

How do you choose the music you play?

Music on daytime shows on BBC Radio Devon are selected from the playlist, which is compiled following research carried out on behalf of local radio across England. Music played on specialist music programmes is mostly chosen by the presenter. Contact the presenter if you have suggestions of music they might like to include.
