Derbyshire fire chief Sean Frayne in court on rape charge
Derbyshire's chief fire officer has appeared in court in Derby charged with raping a woman.
Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court heard Sean Frayne allegedly raped the woman in Etwall, Derby, between 30 November 2006 and 1 January 2007.
The 47-year-old will next appear at Derby Crown Court on 14 April.
Mr Frayne, who lives in Etwall, has been suspended from his post with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service until further notice.
Deputy chief fire officer Andy Waldie and deputy chief executive Joy Smith will cover the responsibilities of the chief fire officer and chief executive in the short term, the fire service said.
