A man has been charged with sending malicious communication over offensive comments posted on Twitter about killed three-year-old Mikaeel Kular.

Darren Shepstone, 26, of Cromford Road in Langley Mill, Derbyshire was arrested in January following comments made about the boy's disappearance.

He is due before Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on 24 February.

Mikaeel Kular was found dead in Fife on 18 January after he was reported missing days earlier.

His mother Rosdeep Kular, 33, has been charged with this murder.

Derbyshire Constabulary investigated comments made about the three-year-old on the microblogging site after receiving complaints from people in Edinburgh.

    Police are appealing to the public to help identify a cyclist who was killed in a crash in Derbyshire.

    He was struck by a Citroen C3 on the A61, near Dronfield, at about 15:20 on Thursday, police said.
