The funeral has taken place of a woman who was killed with a friend and her two sons in a house fire.

Claire James, 27, died from the effects of smoke inhalation in the fire in North Wingfield, Chesterfield, Derbyshire on 20 November.

Her friend Josie Leighton, 32, and Ms Leighton's two sons Tyler Green, nine, and Jordan Green, 12, also died.

Ms James's seven-year-old daughter escaped from the house with minor injuries.

Derbyshire Fire Service said the fire had been caused by faulty electrical wiring.

'Compassion and kindness'

The service was held in private at St Lawrence Church in North Wingfield.

The Rev Colin Cooper, who led the service, said: "There has been a sense of people working together in the village.

"A number of initiatives have taken place to raise money and it has been impressive.

"A huge amount of compassion and kindness has been shown by the people of North Wingfield."

More than £5,000 was raised at the weekend by members of the community for the funerals of the four victims.

The funerals of Ms Leighton and her two sons will take place on Friday.
