Killer Mick Philpott rape inquiry abandoned

Mick Philpott Mick Philpott must serve at least 15 years in jail for starting the fire which killed six children

An investigation into rape allegations against child killer Mick Philpott has been abandoned.

In April Philpott was jailed for life for the manslaughter of six of his children in a fire at his home in Derby.

Two months later Derbyshire police said they were looking into claims he had attacked two women.

Now officers have confirmed that due to insufficient evidence, no further action will be taken.

Philpott, 56, was sentenced to serve a minimum of 15 years of a life sentence for starting a fire while his children slept upstairs.

Wife Mairead and family friend Paul Mosley are both appealing against 17-year sentences for their part in the fire.
