Cyclist found unconscious under Derby's Pride Parkway flyover

A cyclist is being treated for serious head injuries after he was found unconscious under a bridge in Derby.

Police said it was fortunate that a fellow cyclist found the 54-year-old man, sprawled near to his bike under the Pride Parkway flyover near the Alexandra pub.

He was found at 01:30 BST but police do not know how long he had been there.

They have not been able to speak to the man and do not know if he was attacked or had an accident.

    North Wingfield fire 08:10:

There was a "missed opportunity" to raise the alarm during a house fire which killed two women and two children in North Wingfield, a coroner has said.

Tyler Green, 9, and Jordan Green, 12

Josie Leighton, 32, her two sons Tyler Green, nine, and Jordan Green, 12, and Claire James, 27, died in the fire in 2013.

The inquest was told a neighbour heard a smoke alarm and went back to sleep.

But the coroner said there was nothing to suggest raising an early alarm would have made a "material difference" and concluded the deaths were accidental.

Brighter this afternoon 08:03: Mel Coles BBC Weather

It's a murky start with low cloud, mist and fog in places. It may produce some drizzle at times but gradually through the morning it'll lift and the cloud should start to thin to reveal some brighter spells this afternoon.

However, some of it could be quite stubborn to clear. Still feeling warm though with light winds and highs of 20C (68F).
