Derbyshire pair charged over 400 hoax 999 calls

A woman and a teenage girl have been charged after 400 hoax calls were made to Derbyshire Police over a six-week period.

The 16-year-old girl and 21-year-old woman are accused of causing a public nuisance.

It is alleged the pair made 400 hoax 999 calls between 16 June and 27 July, a Derbyshire Police spokesperson said.

Both the woman and teenage girl are due to appear before Southern magistrates on Friday 27 September.

    There is a yellow warning in place from the Met Office for Derbyshire indicating there could be travel disruption as a result of snow.

    More snow is possible through the morning in some areas with a bitterly cold wind leading to temperatures as low as -2C (28F).

    Overnight snow has caused a number of roads to be closed in north Derbyshire.

    These include the A57 Snake Pass, Winnats Pass in Castleton and Rushup Edge between Castleton and Chapel-en-le-Frith.
