A 24-year-old man has died in hospital following an industrial accident in Derbyshire.

The man suffered injuries at the premises of Rainbow Waste, in Robian Way, Swadlincote, on Friday.

Police said the man was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, where he died on Saturday.

Officers said they were assisting the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in trying to piece together what happened at the plant.

A police spokesman said it was a "tragic accident."

A director at the company, Chris Hill, told the Burton Mail: "It has been a terrible day and everyone is really upset.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time."
