Man charged over sexual assaults in Derby

A 36-year-old man has been charged with nine offences following a series of alleged sexual assaults in Derby.

Harbinder Khatkar appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court over charges including rape and false imprisonment on Tuesday.

The attacks are said to happened in the Peartree and Normanton areas of the city within the space of a few hours.

Mr Khatkar, of Moorside Crescent, Sinfin, was remanded into custody.

He will next appear before the crown court on 19 February.

Mr Khatkar was charged with two counts of rape against one woman and causing her actual bodily harm.

He was also charged with false imprisonment, sexual assault, rape and trespassing on a premises with the intent to commit a sexual offence in relation to a second female.

Officers said he was also accused of robbing a third woman and a second count of trespassing on a premises with the intent to commit a sexual offence.

Police have appealed to anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault in the area to contact them.
