A murder investigation is under way after the death of a 48-year-old man in Derbyshire.

Police said they were called to Canal Street in Ilkeston following reports of a disturbance on Wednesday evening.

STANDARD 0824 Murder inquiry

Police investigating the murder of a 48-year-old man in Derbyshire have said two men were spotted leaving the scene, in Canal Street, Ilkeston.

At the scene

They are both white, with one in his 30s and one in his 40s. An incident room has been set up at Ilkeston police station.

One lane is blocked and traffic is slow on the A38 northbound in Derby, at Little Eaton Island, after an accident.


Homeless people will be affected by cuts confirmed by Derby City Council last night, according to a Derby charity.

The Padley Day Centre says a drop in funding means it will have to close its hostel at the end of March, unless it can find alternative funding.
