Police searching for a Derbyshire woman who went missing while travelling on a ferry from Hull to Rotterdam are checking CCTV recordings.

Teresa Cowley, 43, from Mickleover in Derby, had been drinking with her husband before she vanished at about 01:00 GMT on 28 December.

Mark Cowley left her outside their cabin while he went to reception to sort out a problem with their room key.

Derbyshire Police added Dutch officers were not searching the North Sea.

A Derbyshire Police spokesperson said Mrs Cowley was seen on CCTV walking to a sun deck when her husband went to sort out the room key, but had not been seen since.

A full search of the ship was carried out as soon as the alarm was raised but Mrs Cowley was not found.

'Calls from well-wishers'

The couple had boarded the Pride of Rotterdam ferry in Hull the previous day.

Detectives from the Dutch Harbour Police are investigating the disappearance but they do not believe anyone else was involved or that any criminal offence has taken place.

Officers are checking CCTV images from the boat and of the Port of Rotterdam.

Mr Cowley has returned home to Mickleover and in a statement said he had been "inundated with calls from well-wishers" but did not want to comment further.

Mrs Cowley is described as white, of medium build, about 5ft 4in (1.6m) with several tattoos. She was not carrying any money or identification.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information about her whereabouts.
