Moped rider, 16, dies after Belper crash

A 16-year-old moped rider has died after a collision with a car in Derbyshire.

The crash happened at about 17:15 BST on Tuesday, on Far Laund in Belper.

The teenager's Aprilia moped was in collision with a Vauxhall Corsa at the junction with Ladywood Avenue.

The rider was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries. Police said the driver of the Corsa was not seriously injured, and officers are appealing for witnesses to the crash.

A spokesperson said: "There would have been a lot of drivers around at the time because it's quite a well-used road."
