Charles Hill Sports Centre could reopen with £2m revamp
Work is due to begin on a planning application
Plans to spend £2m reviving a sports and community centre in Derbyshire have been unveiled.
A community interest company (CIC), made up of sports clubs and organisations, is taking over the running of the currently closed Charles Hill Centre in Loscoe.
Amber Valley Borough Council, which owns the site, has already pledged £1m towards the refurbishment.
The group hopes to raise the rest of the money through grants.
Planned improvements include a new grass junior football pitch and a floodlit full-size artificial grass pitch.
The pavilion would be replaced and extra changing rooms and a multi-purpose community room created.
The CIC said it had already been awarded £50,000 of National Lottery funding which it planned to spend on improving drainage at the site.
Chairman Kevin O'Kine said work would now begin on drawing up a planning application.
