Thomas Cullen jailed for skateboarder Ashley Finlay's death
Cullen kicked Ashley Finlay outside a pub in Derby
A man has been jailed for six years for the manslaughter of a skateboarder who was kicked in a row over a spilled drink.
Ashley Finlay, 24, died soon after being attacked by Thomas Cullen near The Old Bell Hotel, in Sadler Gate, Derby, in April.
Cullen, 30, of Taylor Street, Derby, was jailed at Nottingham Crown Court.
Derbyshire Police said it was a tragic case in which a young life had been lost over a "trivial" spilled drink.
Det Ch Insp Gary Cathcart said: "Although Thomas Cullen has been found guilty of manslaughter, Ashley's family feel this does not go far enough to deal with how Cullen treated their son on that night.
"I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the family who have had to relive their ordeal during the trial and I hope they can now properly grieve the loss of Ashley."
Friends of Mr Finlay said earlier this year that they planned to create a skateboard in his honour to raise money for a memorial.
