Long Eaton flat fire explosion kills man

Flat in Long Eaton Fire officers said they were investigating the flat where the fire took place

A 57-year-old man has died after a blaze at Derbyshire flat which fire crews said "followed an explosion".

Firefighters responded to reports of a person trapped in the building on Queen Street, Long Eaton, at about 22:00 BST on Saturday.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue said Three Valleys Housing, Erewash Borough Council, Transco, the ambulance service and the Red Cross were also present.

It said a joint investigation with Derbyshire Police was under way.
