Derby Riverside Gardens improvement work set to begin
The revamp will include new lighting, better CCTV coverage and improvements to paths
A riverside area of Derby is being lit up as part of a £600,000 regeneration project to attract more visitors.
The revamp of the Riverside Gardens will include coloured lighting on the weir and lights on the upper part of Exeter Bridge.
An access ramp will be installed at Derwent Street, which will allow disabled visitors access to the gardens and footpaths.
Work will start on Monday and is expected to last for three months.
Andy Smart, project manager at the city council, said the river was a natural asset for the city.
He said the regeneration work would help to attract more people to the area and boost the night-time economy.
