Businesses in a Derbyshire village have said they are unhappy about plans to charge motorists to park on the street.

Matlock Bath traders claim it will stop people from visiting the area and as a result their profits would be hit if the council's proposals go ahead.

Derbyshire County Council said it had "worked closely" with the Parish Council and welcomed people's views.

It plans to introduce the on-street parking charges on the North and South Parades.

A spokeswoman for Derbyshire County Council said: "We put these proposals together, working closely alongside the parish council, to improve parking for businesses, residents and tourists.

"People will get the chance to have their say on the proposals and we welcome any comments."
