Rain shortage may hit fish stocks in Derbyshire

Fish in a Derbyshire river may not spawn this year due to the driest 12 months in the Midlands on record, say the Environment Agency.

Brown trout have to be rescued from a 3km (1.9-mile) section of the River Lathkill in Over Haddon every summer due to low water levels and taken downstream.

But water levels have not returned to normal in the river this year, the agency said.
