A four-year-old who was found dead in a tumble dryer in his Derbyshire home has been identified.

Sonny Gibson was found by his mother at his home in Northcliffe Road in Ashbourne on Monday morning.

The child was reported missing about an hour before he was found. Police had begun a helicopter-assisted search.

A police spokesperson said the inquiry into his death was continuing and a post-mortem examination will be carried out later on Tuesday.

His mother has received medical treatment and is being cared for by specially-trained officers.
