Four men have been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences after shots were reported to have been fired in Whitehaven.

Cumbria Police said armed officers responded to reports of shots being fired in the Harras Moor area of the town on Monday evening.

Four local men aged 19, 20, 22 and 26 were later arrested when a Volvo car was stopped nearby.

A force spokesman said no-one was hurt and appealed for witnesses.
