Workington arsonist Stephen Logan is jailed for five years
A man who barricaded a family inside their Cumbria home before setting fire to three cars outside, has been jailed for five years.
Stephen Logan, of High Harrington, Workington, set the cars ablaze in the driveway between two houses on Shore Road, Salterbeck in October 2013.
The 38-year-old used wood and tape to barricade the front and rear doors of one property before starting the fire.
He had admitted reckless arson and was jailed at Carlisle Crown Court.
A police investigation found Logan was aware the occupants of the house were at home when he started the blaze, causing damage to both homes.
After sentencing, Det Con Andy Yoxall said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for all of the victims.
"This was a reckless act by Logan. He knew the risks but carried on regardless placing several lives in danger.
"This was aggravated by the fact he had barricaded the doors from the outside to prevent the occupants of the house being able to get out.
"It is a miracle that no-one was seriously injured or killed."
