A motorist has died in a crash between a car and a milk tanker on the A595 in Cumbria.

The man, who was driving the car, has not been named. Police said the tanker driver was not injured.

The collision happened near Carlisle between the Cardewlees and Nealhouse junctions shortly before 08:00 GMT.

It led to the closure of the busy route during the morning, leading to traffic problems. Police appealed for witnesses.
