Penrith rail station revamp to improve disabled access
A Cumbria station is to undergo its first major refurbishment in 30 years to improve disabled access.
Penrith station will also get a new customer information desk as well as better lighting and heating.
Virgin Trains, which runs the station, said work was expected to begin in February and would last for six weeks.
During the revamp the opening hours of ticket office will be reduced, a spokesman for Virgin said. The hall will also be redecorated.
